BYOB with GreenEyedMonster

If you haven’t heard of GreenEyedMonster, this the best time to check them out. Why? Because they’ve launched a competition (and you could win $500!) combined with their devotion to giving back to the environment.

GreenEyedMonster was founded by sisters Ashley and Kimberly Ulmer, driven by their desire to combine helping the environment with art. They promote the idea of BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag), a movement towards less waste and more sustainability.

Becoming increasingly popular (more people are doing it – and you should, too), they develop and offer versatile, artistic, and reusable bags – and they look great, too.

The difference with GreenEyedMonster and similar companies is their focus on artistic talent – most notably, your own. With competitions always on the go (Psst… Check out their current one for the ECOnomy), you can submit your designs with a chance to win your talent displayed on one of their tote bags (and some extra cash, too).green-eyed-earth-day

We love the idea of offering a way for individuals to really get involved, and want to highlight their  results from the recent Earth Day Competition (Earth Day, by the way, is April 22nd).
This special limited edition tote bag is adorned with the winner’s design. A portion of the sales of this bag (again, available for a limited time only) will be donated to Tree People, a Los Angeles based non-profit organization that increases awareness about water and tree issues, as well as strongly works at educating communities about the environment.

So basically, you score an awful lot with GreenEyedMonster. You get to:

  • decrease waste by using a reusable bag (check!)
  • increase eco-awareness by inspiring others (check!)
  • donate to Tree People (check!)
  • and have a really cool tote (check!)

Their totes, by the way, are made form 100% post-consumer recycled cotton and recycled plastic bottles. They are natural in colour, and a 20-inches wide, 15-inches tall and 6-inches deep. All bags sell for $25.

Check out their website at GreenEyedMonster, and their ongoing contest information. (Oh, and pick up your limited edition Earth Day bag, too).
